Goals. I talk about them all the time. I have a million little goals, for a million different things. Goals for my business, for my personal life, for my Ireland trip... like I said, I have a bunch, and sometimes, they're a little ridiculous. And by ridiculous I don't mean huge or unreachable or ridiculously awesome... I mean stupid and random and for my own sheer enjoyment haha. What can I say, I can be pretty quirky sometimes...
I do a few strength training classes each week at the gym, and the rest of the time it's cardio. I do a manual program on the elliptical, and always do 60 minutes. The thing about 60 minutes is it's always 65, since there's 5 minutes of cool down. So normally, out of pure laziness, I skip cool down and jump off right at 60, which is usually about 5 miles for me (I'm slow, leave me alone!). But then I started thinking, what if I did 40 miles in 7 days? All I would have to do is endure cool down and do the whole 65 minutes every day for a week, and then add on one extra run at the end. Now, like I said, this was a super random goal for my own enjoyment, and I understand there are people who can do 40 miles in one run (Jen Shelby, I'm looking at you, you crazy freak of nature :) ). However, I am certainly not one of them, and so I really wanted to see if I could do this without making excuses or giving up halfway through. And okay, so there is ONE excuse mixed in on this post, but I still got it done :) 40 miles in one week, yahoo! Picture me patting myself on my sweaty back....
And since I wanted to be accountable and show proof, I took a picture with my phone at the end of each run...
Okay, so here's where the excuse comes in. I honestly could not help missing Friday. I was pissed about it, but I spent this past week house and dog sitting, and an emergency arose that was beyond my control. I also had a wedding that afternoon, so missing my chance in the morning meant missing my chance for the day. But I made up for it....
...by hitting the gym twice yesterday :) Originally, my goal was to do this whole thing Monday- Sunday of last week. But like I said, Friday ended up being a loss, unfortunately, and if you count exactly when I started last Monday to when I finished this Monday, I made it to 40 miles within the 7 days. 40.28 miles, to be exact :)
So that's it. Another random, pointless goal reached. Yayyyyyy me :) And just to reward you in case you actually read this far into my boring blog post about the gym haha, I am hooking you up with my top 30 workout songs.
