Maternity

Baby Wenzel

Last week, I got a visit from the Wenzel's, who are expecting their first baby in September.  I first met Christine and Erik at the second wedding I shot on my own, for Genevieve and Brett on Martha's Vineyard!  Erik and Brett were friends from UCONN, and Erik was in their South Beach wedding.  Can't believe it's been 3 years since that day!  Anyways, when Christine contacted me about doing maternity photos, and kind of asked me if I remembered them, the very first thing I said was "Was your husband the one dancing and singing 'Man in the Mirror'?"  :)  Yup, yup it was.  Erik and Christine also met at UCONN and are ADORABLE together, and I'm so excited to see whether they have a boy or girl in September!  Their due date is my stepsister's birthday, but I think Christine would be totally okay with it if she went a little early lol.  Here are some pics from their maternity "mini-session", which we did at a school around the corner from me!

One of my favorites...

The Charbonneau Family

Happy Monday!  For a wedding photographer, this statement is actually true, most of the time.  The past 2 weekends were CRAAAAAAZY, and so I was soooooo looking forward to this weekend we just had... my friends Molly and Eric tied the knot in Newport and it was AMMMMAAAAAAZING.  (I don't usually talk in so many caps and extra vowels, but today I feel like it's warranted lol).  Anyways, I went down to Newport on Friday and had a complete blast at the wedding.  Some other photographer friends were there, as well as a friend from college, so it was awesome to just dance and party and have a good time.  My friend Melissa, her husband Marc and I spent Saturday walking around Newport and relaxing, and yesterday I headed up to Vermont with my friend Andrea of Shades of Images Photography to shoot a wedding at the Mountain Top Inn.  Overall, an EXCELLENT weekend, and I am excited to be home early and getting some work done today!

I will be catching up on blogging in the next few days (Hannah and Joe, you're up soon, promise!) and I wanted to start off with my friend Sarah.  Sarah and I went to college together at Bridgewater State, and both belonged to Gamma Phi Beta.  Boy, have we come a long way from Wild Wednesdays at Bogart's and keggers at the White House.  Or at least Sarah has... she's about to be a wife, and mother, and stepmom!  Sarah and her fiancee Scott will be getting married in Key West next year (that's right- my 3rd favorite place behind Vermont and Ireland lol) and while I would love to say I will be photographing their nuptials at the Hemingway House, I will already be in Ireland.  But I was flattered when Sarah emailed to ask me to photograph some maternity/ family pictures for her, Scott, and his daughter Lizzy.  I met up with them at the end of a double wedding weekend and we walked around Fairhaven, where Scott grew up.  These two are just too cute, and Lizzy was the sweetest girl... I am so happy for this new family and I wish you guys nothing but the best as your start this new chapter in your lives together!  Here are some of my favorite pics from that afternoon :)

Love this one!

The end :)  Congratulations again Charbonneau Family!!!  xoxo.

Dakota and Lu and a new addition!

It is crazy how time flies.  Sometimes it can feel like time is going so slow... you're excited about something, so every day is torture until it arrives, or your job is boring, and days seem to go by like molasses.  And then other times, times like this, it feels like it is going by wayyyyyy too fast.  About a year ago, I was photographing Dakota and Lu's wedding on the water in Nahant, and now... they have a new reason to celebrate!  Dakota is pregnant with their first baby, which is due about 2 weeks after their wedding anniversary.  What a great gift that will be :)  They decided not to know the sex of the baby, but they did know they wanted me to take some pictures, and I am so flattered that they asked!  Here are a few photos from their maternity session.  I wanted to start off with a few of Dakota... the baby's nursery is actually the room she got ready in for her wedding, so I loved putting these pictures up side by side and seeing what a difference a year makes :)

Dakota and Lu have a small playground literally right across from their house... it's going to come in handy in the next few years I'm sure!

Then we headed into the Faneuil Hall area for a few photos...

Dakota and Lu, thank you for asking me to photograph another special moment in your lives!  See you next month for some newborn photos! xoxo.

Genevieve, Brett, and baby makes 3

Let me just start out by saying that maternity is not my strong suit.  When I first started photography, I listed my specialties everywhere.... which included EVERYTHING haha.  I apparently was so confident in my skills that I felt like I was great at everything.  To be honest, it was probably just because I needed the work so bad!  But now that I've been doing it a little while, I know what I'm good with and what I'm not, and I definitely don't consider maternity a niche of mine.  I even turned down several maternity gigs this summer because I didn't feel comfortable that I would be the best photographer to do them.  That being said, I think Genevieve booked me for her maternity shoot the day I photographed her wedding!  She was only the second wedding I photographed, on Martha's Vineyard, and ever since then she has been one of my biggest photo fans.  Scheduling this shoot was hard because this summer has been so busy, but Shelby wanted to give Vieve and Brett this photo session as a baby gift, and I have to say I'm glad she did.  After all the times I've photographed Vieve and Brett, I can't imagine someone else taking these pictures!  Genevieve is literally having the baby this Saturday, so we did this session right in the nick of time.  She's having a girl, but no one knows any potential name choices yet.  Can't wait to hear what they pick!  Here are some of my favorites from the afternoon...

Love these!

I don't know why but I was obsessed with the architecture of this building, not to mention the vines going up the brick- so pretty!

Favorite!

Also favorites...

We changed up locations and headed to Hatfield for some barn action...

And some Seventies action!

Thank you Shelby! ;-)

Clearly every stylish baby has to have her own shoe collection.  Can I mention that I have never owned anything Burberry?  This baby is already way more stylish than me!

Congratulations Brett and Genna, can't wait to meet her in 2 weeks!
